【WARNING 】Notice of Suspension of KURODAKE Ropeway Service

The Kurodake Ropeway will be out of service during the following period.

The Asahidake Ropeway and the Kurodake Ropeway are two different things.  Tourists, please don’t get them mixed up.

The Kurodake Ropeway will be closed from June 1st to June 26th

Regarding the temporary closure of the Kurodake Ropeway gondolas due to renovation work:

The Kurodake Ropeway will be closed from June 1st to June 26th due to renovation work on the ropeway gondolas.
Additionally, the lift will be closed from May 18th to June 26th, and the summer ropeway and lift operations will resume from June 27th.

In other words, if you are planning a traverse from Asahidake,

you should absolutely avoid this period.

We have issued warnings on numerous occasions, but we would like to reiterate this message.

Hiking the mountains of Hokkaido in jeans, sneakers, sandals, or shorts is dangerous, reckless, and puts your life at risk.

Every year, foreign tourists continue to lose their lives in mountain accidents.

Hiking without proper mountain gear means accepting a host of risks, including getting lost, freezing to death, heatstroke, falling, hypothermia, dehydration, bruises, and bleeding.
